Reason Why Bishop Oyedepo Cancels Crossover Service

2020 came with a lot of uncertainties, challenges and changes, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic. The outbreak of COVID-19 led to huge changes in our previous way of life.

For example, in our religious gatherings, social distancing became mandatory, online worship became normal, and there was a change in the way we took the Holy Communion and offerings.

I guess change is the only constant event on earth because there is more change in our usual church traditions.

Because of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the curfew announced to prevent its spread, the General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has cancelled the traditional Crossover Service into 2021.

This was announced during today's End of The Year Thanksgiving and Children Dedication Service.

Usually, on the last day of the year, churches across Nigeria, including The Living Faith Church would have a night vigil to cross over into the New Year. In Winners Chapel, it would normally last from 10PM to 5AM, but this year would be very different.

There would be no waiting till 12AM to cross over to the New Year. Instead, there would be a normal evening service. It would almost be like a normal midweek service, as it would not be broadcast live from Canaanland to all the local assemblies worldwide.

The new Theme of The Year that would have been announced as the worshippers cross over to the New Year, would be announced in a New Year's service on the first day of 2021.

Like I said earlier, this changes are coming because of the second wave of COVID-19, and the measures the government have put in place to prevent its spread. What do you think about this?
