In a latest development as reported by Sahara reporters, unknown gunmen who have been terrorising communities in the North, reportedly killed a senior army officer, identified as Major J.F. London, in Zamfara State.
Confirming the attack, a military source according to the report said that the senior army officer, London was killed during an ambush set up for Nigerian soldiers at Janbako town in the Maradun. It revealing that the attackers came in a Hilux vehicle and motorcycles.
However, a closer look at the Hilux vehicle shows that it's the vehicle given to repentant bandits by Governor Bello Matawalle, source claimed.
Meanwhile, in another development, it was reported that the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, ISWAP have repeatedly destroyed an Armed Personnel Carrier. The vehicle was captured by the group of militants from soldiers who were on operation in the trench against the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists.
A report from Sahara reporter indicated that the group in a statement claimed to have wounded and killed 30 soldiers and destroyed two other APCs. It would interest you to know that the Isotrex Phantom APCs were recently acquired by the Nigerian Army for the newly launched operation tagged ‘Tura Takaibango’.
According to the report, they were meant to be used in a continued operation of the Nigerian Army against Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East, comprising of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, respectively.
