Wike Donates 500 Million To Rebuild Razed Market In Sokoto

Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, has donated N500 million to Sokoto to support the rebuilding of the state’s central market.

On Tuesday morning, a section of the market was burnt down.

Muhammed Bello, spokesman to Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto, disclosed Wike’s donation in a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to Bello, Wike said the donation is to support the state’s rebuilding efforts, as well as to assist affected traders.

Muhammadu Buhari Speaks Again

President Muhammadu Buhari has said his government is ready to work with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris and hopes that a strong point of cooperation and support for Nigeria as well as the African continent will be marked.

Another Prominent Nigerian Dies

The first Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Festus Ayodele Marinho has died.

Marinho who is the first and only MD of the defunct Nigerian National Oil Corporation (NNOC), the forerunner of NNPC, was also the only NNPC MD who served twice – 1977-1979 and 1984-1985.

President Muhammadu Buhari – when he was Military Head of State – gave Marinho his second appointment in 1984.

Prophet TB Joshua Speaks Again

Nigerian televangelist, Prophet TB Joshua has spoken out on the COVID-19 vaccine which has been generating much controversy in Nigeria and other countries of the world.

The popular Nigerian prophet in a series of tweets on his Twitter account on Wednesday explained that the COVID-19 vaccine has many conspiracy theories around it.

He however called for support for the government, noting that he beliefs the various governments across the world are doing their best to address the challenges posed by COVID-19.
