Soldiers Escorts Herdsmen To Ogun Villages, Flog Residents For Rejecting Herders

The residents of Ketu speaking villages in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State are making a passionate appeal to the state government as well as the military authorities after they complained that they suffered brutality in the hands of some soldiers who escorted herdsmen to graze in the communities.

According to reports by the Nation Newspaper, about 10 soldiers came with some herdsmen on a mission to intimidate the residents for refusing to allow the herders to graze their cattle in the community.

It would be recalled that the herdsmen had to leave the community last December after the resident protested against the killing of farmers on regular basis.

The headers are said to have resurfaced again after one month, this time around, they came with about ten soldiers from the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta.

One of the villagers identified as Seye Mulero was bold enough to challenge the herders for returning. But his boldness only landed him in trouble as he was beaten by the soldiers.

Aside from Mulero and Ubeku villages, innocent indigenous citizens of Iselu, Ibeku, Agbon-Ojodu, Asa and other villages were also harassed and assaulted by the soldiers.

The herders and the complicit soldiers traveled to neighboring Asa after leaving Ubeku, where they reenacted the Ubeku scenario, causing confusion among the hapless villagers.
