Ondo Government Speaks Again

The Ondo State Government has insisted that Fulani herdsmen would not be allowed to graze in the state forest reserves without getting permission like farmers.

Naija News reports that this was made known in a statement on Wednesday titled, ‘Ondo State Government Forest Reserves Policies And Regulation’, by the State Commissioner for Agricultural and Rural Development, Adegboyega Adefarati.

The Ondo commissioner stated that it was illegal for any herdsmen to encroach on the state-owned forest reserves.

FFK Speaks

Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-kayode has backed Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for asking Fulani herdsmen to vacate forests in Ondo State.

In a post on his Twitter page on Wednesday, Fani-Kayode slammed the presidency for insinuating that herdsmen have a right to reside in the forests of Ondo and South West.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain described the presidency statement rejecting the quit notice as ‘insulting, provocative, asinine and absurd.’

School Resumption Canceled For Students In UNIBEN

The University of Benin has cancelled proposed resumption in the wake of Edo state government’s directive to half reopening of schools amidst concern about a second wave of coronavirus pandemic.

“Students of the University of Benin are, therefore, not expected in the halls of residence on January 30 nor be present physically on February 1, while Management awaits a new directive from the state Government,” the school’s acting registrar Clarkson Ehigiator said in a statement.

Buhari Speaks Again

Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday said his regime is looking forward to the Presidency of the new US President, Joe Biden, “with great hope.”

Buhari noted that the two countries hoped to work “together to tackle global terrorism, climate change, poverty, and improvement of economic ties, with the expansion of trade.”

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled “President Buhari: We look forward to working with President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris,” Buhari expressed the hope that the Presidency of Biden and Harris will further strengthen cooperation and support for Nigeria and Africa.
